co·lab will host four multidisciplinary team challenges. Over the course of two weeks, inspiring co-creators will deliver workshops and guide students through their creation process. At the end, exciting prizes and an exhibition closing ceremony await the teams.

Meet the Lead: Professor Chris Pearce

"We want to create a world-changing, connected, healty and vibrant universty campus."

 

Chris Pearce is Professor of Computational Mechanics and holds the Royal Academy of Engineering / EDF Energy Research Chair at Glasgow. His first academic appointment was as a lecturer at the University of Glasgow and he has been a valued staff member ever since. Currently, he is the Dean of Research for the College of Science & Engineering and member of the Infrastructure and Environment Research Division in the School of Engineering. His major research interests are in computational mechanics.

Meet the Lead: Professor Kevin O'Dell

"co·lab gives us the opportunity to reach beyond our familiar West End community and truly connect with other communities."

Kevin O'Dell is Professor of Behaviour Genetics (Life Sciences Biomolecular Sciences), Dean of Public Engagement (Research Strategy and Innovation Office) and an Associate Academic with the Institute of Molecular Cell and Systems Biology. His research interests are genes and sex-specific behaviour in Drosophila melanogaster, Drosophila as a model of human mitochondrial disease, especially deafness, and Drosophila as a model of human myotonic dystrophy.

As Vice Principal for Innovation & Knowledge Exchange of the Research Strategy and Innovation Office Professor Jon Cooper has overall responsibility for the University’s Knowledge Exchange strategy and policies, and for the University’s relationships with its strategic partners including industry, NHS, Government and Charities. He is also Wolfson Chair of Bioengineering.

Meet the Lead: Professor Miles Padgett

"Co·lab provides fanatstic tools that let your mind reconfigure the future so that you too become world changers."

 

Miles Padgett holds the Kelvin Chair of Natural Philosophy in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Glasgow. He heads an Optics Research Group covering a wide spectrum from blue-sky research to applied commercial development, funded by a combination of government charity and industry. He is also Vice-Principal for Research in the University with an office which strives to support both individual researchers in realising their own potential and the University's vision to deliver world-changing research.
